CTEACH
Community Partners Teaching and Encouraging Acceptance to Counteract Homophobia and Heterosexism (CTEACH) was a community organization formed in 2004 to advocate for students, particularly around a human rights case against the Lakehead District School Board. Through the case, they argued that the Lakehead District School Board was not doing enough to address homophobic bullying in schools. A group of queer folks and allies supported the complainant and drew attention to the issue with the broader community.
The Ontario Human Rights Commission heard the case, and mediated an agreement between the two groups in 2005, resulting in new actions taken by the School Board.
