Black and white photograph of Port Arthur during a large silver mining boom in the 1880s. Photograph appears to be taken from a boat entering the Port Arthur dock. Groups of people and horses can be seen travelling the dock on the right as Port Arthur sprawls out over the horizon. Marks dock can be seen on the left while the large white building at in the center background has been identified as Marks stores.
