Description

2 photos; black and white print

(Photo 1)
Two men (the mine manager and accoutant) sitting in front of a wall of photos (including a photo of Mary Pickford), drinking and smoking.
"The lack of femenine companionship for many months prompted this one. Putting the last and the first last: the last white sheet we had, four dead soldiers, some pictured from Esquire for a suitable background, a picture of Mary Pickford carefully cut out of Liberty, pasted to a piece of cardboard and nailed to the end of the table. The Mine Manager poses on the left and the Accountant on the right."

(Photo 2)
The same two men have switched places and are asleep in front of the same wall. Mary Pickford is not all dressed up and the men dishevelled.
"The picture on the right represents quite obviously the end of the party, an old fox pelt reposes on Mary's rather bare shoulders, a took adorns her head. The boys have changed places, the clock shows a false reading and the bottles are still empty."
