Title
Herstory: Lillian Wolter
Description
An oral history interview with Mrs. Lillian Wolter. The interview was performed as part of the Women's Decade Council Herstory project.
During the interview, Mrs. Wolter discusses working as a school teacher in Nipigon. She taught grades one through eight, was a shop-keeper for a time, and also played the organ and piano for churches and events. She details her experience trying to get a divorce from her husband. In order to do this she had to prove adultery, and she almost lost her job since she had moved in with another man before she was divorced. She also discusses community events in Nipigon and how the school would always host events for all ages.
The recording consists of two sides of one cassette tape, available as two MP3 files. (Click on the speaker logo to play each file.)
