(Shared with all photos on page) "A canoe I undertook to build in the far North with the cost of getting one in was prohibitive. The ribs were cut by axe from birch logs which were steamed and bent into chape. Standard Brands and Canadian Industries unwittingly supplied the thin lumber from packing cases which was nailed to the ribs with copper nails. The pictures show the canoe after covering with canvas and the bottom view shows us sailing it on the water of the Hays River 75 miles south of Churchill."
